About Us

Wixom Farm is located just 1 mile south of Mecklenburg, NY on route 228. It is 123 acre farm that was started in the 1850s and continues to evolve today. The main barn was built in 1895 by Charles Wixom, and remains a beautiful local landmark. Wixom Farm has been passed down through the family for generations until Keith Kelsey, great grandson of Charles Wixom, passed in 2007.

In the spring of 2012, Andy Clark took over the stewardship of the historic Wixom Farm. As a novice farmer, Andy is breathing new life into the farm along with his partner Heather Bowman. They raise Scottish Highland cattle, Tamworth pigs, chickens, ducks, a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf x Nubian dairy goats, as well as several beehives. Their goal is to maintain a beautiful farm, while simultaneously producing humanely raised, healthy, delicious, and ecologically sustainable meat, eggs, fruit, and vegetable crops for their family and community.

While Wixom Farm is not certified organic, the animals are only fed organic feed and only administered antibiotics when it is necessary for an animal’s life and wellbeing, and never before slaughter. Andy & Heather never use growth hormones on any of their livestock.

Their egg laying chickens are kept in a large enclosed netted area to keep them safe from hawks and fox that share the land of Wixom Farm, but they have ample room to roam and roost and are given grass clippings and kitchen scraps in addition to their organic layer and scratch feed.

In the garden, Andy & Heather only use organic, untreated seeds and never use any synthetic chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides on any of their crops or property. For their fertilizing needs they use their own cow’s composted manure as well as worm castings, and tea from Fingerlakes Organincs, LLC.

Wixom Farm products can be found weekly at the Trumansburg Farmers Market, at the Farm Store located at Wixom Farm, and for pick up by appointment at Honey Cuts Dog Grooming in Jacksonville, NY.
